We are looking for examiners to help review, edit and write Multiple-Choice questions (MCQ) initially, with ongoing maintenance of the examinations required where needed.  The maintenance and production of the assessments within the Early Years End Point Assessments is a priority piece of work and you will be asked to be involved at various stages of the Question Paper Production Process depending on your experience and availability, including AMEC (Assessment Material Evaluation Committee) meetings.

Writing/editing examiners will be required to review and edit existing assessment materials and produce and submit assessment materials for allocated assessments that are in line with the test/assessment specification requirements. Once assessment material is created the writer will need to review and respond to City & Guilds feedback, as well as feedback from other Subject Matter Experts (Revisor and/or Scrutineer reports) amending assessment materials where necessary.

Revisers will be required to review draft assessment material in advance of the AMEC meeting and submit a report on the assessment’s fitness for purpose.

Scrutineers are a technical expert who is wholly independent of the production process until after the AMEC meeting. They will review the assessment by sitting the assessment like a candidate and submit their answers. Once answers have been received, the mark scheme is shared with them for review. They submit a report around the assessment and its fitness for purpose.

AMEC panel members are subject matter experts who sit on the panel alongside the Writing/Editing Examiner and Reviser, evaluating the assessment material to ensure that it is technically accurate, meets the test specification and complies with City & Guilds assessment principles.

Writing/editing examiners, revisers and AMEC panel members will be required to attend Assessment Material Evaluation Committee (AMEC) half or full day meetings, with Scrutineers completing their work after these meetings have taken place. The commitment level for each role is outlined in the person specifications.

Work will be completed remotely using Microsoft Sharepoint, with any meetings conducted using Microsoft Teams.

Training will take place at the beginning of May, and will be conducted using Microsoft Teams.

When completing your application, it is essential you read the person specifications fully, and map your application to show where you meet the requirements set out and have the capacity to fulfil the role.  Please note applications that do not demonstrate meeting the person specification may be declined or delayed.

We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value. We work hard to be inclusive in our approach to recruitment and associate opportunities, whilst still ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements. We strongly encourage and welcome applications from diverse and underrepresented communities.
