The assessments within the Fire Door Safety qualifications include on-screen Multiple Choice exams.  

We are looking for examiners to help write and edit Multiple-Choice questions (MCQ) initially, with ongoing maintenance of the examinations when needed.  

A one-day MCQ writing and editing training course will be held in February/March for successful applicants. Following successful completion of the training, the MCQ test would be sent to the scrutineer for them to take as if they were a candidate (without a mark scheme available), making notes on whether questions were fit-for-purpose, or required further editing/fine-tuning in line with City & Guild Assessment Principles (training to be provided). Once the test has been completed and answers submitted, the scrutineer will then be sent the mark scheme and write comments on usability of the multiple choice questions/improvements required – confirming whether questions were answerable and assess the topic/skills intended. Scrutiny is expected to take place in March/April. Scrutineer work is desk-based, so work will be sent to the scrutineer, typically on a 1-week turnaround. This role can fit around other commitments as there are minimal meetings once training has been completed. You may be asked for clarity on comments made over the scrutiny process via telephone or email after scrutiny is complete. Applications will be reviewed on an on-going basis between now and end of February 2024, suitable applicants will be invited to attend training.
